Magnetism: Reflecting & Retracting

Magnetism: Reflecting & Retracting questions what magnetism means & how it can be translated through fashion. Magnetism is understood conceptually through illusions. These illusions take the form of hidden magnetics, “floating” pockets, & complicated silhouettes. Transformation is another aspect that is highlighted in this collection. A majority of the garments have the ability to take on different “looks”. Whether it is by shedding a layer or changing the garment completely. The garments are meant to be fun and whimsical.

Original Print

This print is created from Iron ores. The process began with photographing the iron ores reacting to the magnetics, then transferring the photos into photoshop, layering & manipulating them to create a pattern. This pattern became one of the textiles in my thesis.
